Dir. Julian Gray

Based on a short story by Billy Collins
Voice: Billy Collins
RT: 1:09
In this poem Billy Collins uses the metaphor of a dollhouse and dolls to describe manipulated lives. Julian Grey opted to use detailed miniature figurines such as those found in railroad set dioramas and recast them in a spooky model house in a surreal landscape. Shooting stop motion camera moves with these small figures, he plays with shallow depth of field, evoking sensations of claustrophobia and restraint. This piece was commissioned by the JWT NY for the Sundance Channel Action Poetry Series.
