Featuring Dakota Blue Richards (star of The Golden Compass and The Secret of Moonacre), Five Miles Out is based on a Sarah Tierney story first published by Comma Press in Bracket (2003). The adaptation is directed by Andrew Haigh (who’s previously worked with Ridley Scott on Gladiator and Heaven’s Gate) and is sponsored by Film 4 and the UK Film Council. It follows the story of a girl taken on holiday by her aunty to give away from the troubles of her sister, who’s suffering from life-threatening anorexia.
